Meet Your Allegiant Team: Luke Nicholas

Portfolio Manager Luke Nicholas, CFP®, CFAAPA Nicholas 3x4HI RGB, earned a promotion to Principal in January 2019, but even greater things are in store for him over the next year. We invite you to get to know Luke better, in his own words:

It is hard to believe that I am quickly approaching my six-year anniversary at Allegiant Private Advisors. I consider myself extremely blessed to have found a company with such an accomplished, close-knit team and incredible client base. While the financial industry is rife with sales-driven quotas and greed, I am proud to know that all of my co-workers and I come to work every day with only one thing in mind – providing top-level, fiduciary guidance for our clients. Before I dive into my time at Allegiant further, let me take a step back and tell you how I got here.

I grew up in Sarasota where I attended the International Baccalaureate® (IB) program at Riverview High School. At Riverview, I played football, basketball and ran track. While sports had been a lifelong passion of mine, I realized that my future was much brighter using my brain than my athletic abilities - so I accepted a full academic scholarship to attend the University of Florida. It was at UF that my love of finance really started to develop. Not only did I major in finance, but I also had the opportunity to intern at a wealth management firm in Gainesville. This internship was my first exposure to a career working with individuals to reach their financial goals and I knew right away that wealth management is what I wanted to pursue upon graduation.

As I began my job search, I figured I would end up in one of the big finance hubs of New York, Chicago or Atlanta. However, deep down I knew that I eventually wanted to end up back home on the Gulf Coast. So, I started to put out feelers for a job in Sarasota. Through a mutual connection, I was introduced to Marty (Martin J. Kossoff, CFP®, AIF®, our Founder and Chairman) and the team at Allegiant. The second I walked in the door at Allegiant, I knew that this was a special place. The team was so welcoming and embodied the family approach with clients that I am now so proud to be a part of. After receiving an employment offer, I did not even consider anything else and accepted on the spot. The only thing I had to do before leaving Gainesville was convince my girlfriend Elizabeth to move back to Sarasota with me upon graduation. I am happy to say that somehow, she agreed, and we are now happily engaged and looking forward to tying the knot within the next year.

The six years that I have been with Allegiant have easily been the most rewarding and challenging years of my life. I look back at how much I have grown since I walked through the doors for my first interview and can’t help but smile. I consider myself extremely fortunate because in addition to the tremendous professional growth that I have achieved with the support of the team around me, I have also become very involved in our community. As an example, I serve on the Suncoast Advisory Board for Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, which provides life-changing wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Giving back to those less fortunate than myself is a responsibility that my parents ingrained in me from a young age and I am proud to say that the entire Allegiant team feels the same way. When I am not at work or volunteering in the community, I enjoy spending time with our two German Shepherds, playing golf and traveling with my fiancé.

Joining Allegiant turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. I have formed lifelong bonds with co-workers and clients and am proud to be part of the team that will continue to act as a trusted advisor for families for decades to come. I am confident when I say that this is the best and hopefully only job that I will ever have!
