Getting to Know Your Allegiant Team: Karyn Nantes

Operations Specialist Karyn Nantes joined Allegiant in the summer of 2019, but her team feels like shes been part of the family for ages. We invite our clients and colleagues to get to know Karyn better through her own words:

APA Nantes 8x10 smallBorn and raised in Michigan, I have a love for the outdoors.  We would take trips up north” to the lake every summer to go boating, ride jet skis and just enjoy the beautiful scenery.  Our winters were spent skiing and snowmobiling.  Our favorite tradition was to head up to the lake every 4th of July to have bonfires and watch the fireworks.

Growing up, I was an avid athlete and long-distance runner, participating in cross country and track.  I was team captain and enjoyed mentoring and encouraging the younger runners.  My passion for running continues into adulthood, as I have been involved in numerous races, including the Tampa Gasparilla Half Marathon.

I attended Michigan State University in East Lansing where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Social Science.  After graduating from MSU, I moved to Tampa, Florida, and started working for WellCare Health Plans where I had the privilege of working closely with the executive team and board members from NYC during the IPO process.  I was an integral member of the team that coordinated the road show. I am grateful that I had this experience and I am now able to appreciate how complex and labor-intensive the process can be.  Watching the team debut on the Exchange for the first time with an initial public offering and ringing of the opening bell was a moment that I will always remember.  Witnessing an example of how all of the hard work can finally pay off was a great life lesson.  This experience played a large role in my decision to later move to New York City and follow a path into the financial and investment world.

It was in New York that I would meet my husband, Alex, a former Marine and Real Estate Broker.  There, I worked for a Private Equity Group on Park Avenue, coincidentally right across the street from Allegiant’s Principal and Director of Customer Service Kristina Eastmond.  I researched investment opportunities, while assisting with the management and monitoring of portfolio companies.  I spent several years at the firm and gained extensive knowledge and insight into the industry.

Alex and I eventually decided to settle down and start a family in the Sarasota, Florida, area to be near the rest of my family.  I am very fortunate to have my mom, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews throughout the Sarasota area.  Today, Alex, Sebastian (6), Lukas (9) and I reside in Lakewood Ranch where we are very active in the community.  We enjoy spending time attending community events, farmers'markets and supporting local businesses.  On most weekday evenings you will find us at our sons’baseball, soccer and football games.

Speaking of family, I am very grateful to have found the Allegiant Private Advisors team.  I feel blessed to be surrounded by people who value a well-balanced life.  Our office culture allows people to earn a living, raise a family, be charitable, and have outside interests.  The environment is one that cultivates great relationships and a strong work ethic that completes our work family.”  Since joining the firm, I have focused on developing professional relationships with clients through exceptional client service and assisting clients over the phone by taking service requests for wire transfers, checks, journals and anything else they may need.  I am also currently working towards my Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional, (FPQP designation), which will broaden my knowledge and insight into the financial planning process.

I love living life to its fullest in Sarasota and look forward to spending many years to come with Allegiant.
